Volume Facts and Takeaways – Weeks 10 & 11 – by Gabriel Cabistani

As we reach the fantasy playoff period, it’s more and more important to be aware of the volume stats of players – as this will help you assemble the best squad in order for you to win your fantasy titles. This time, we will analyze both weeks 10 and 11, and hopefully, it helps you enhance your fantasy football playoff run!

Once again, we’ll keep the stats to the minimum, for you to have a pleasant and effective read – while also keeping up to date with the volume trends.

Week 10

Well, if you thought Shady McCoy was washed, he certainly showed you wrong on Week 10! McCoy was a beast, taking 26 carries for 113 yards and two scores and helping the Bills destroy the Jets.

Leonard Fournette also came back with a nice volume performance – 24 carries for 53 yards and a touchdown. Even though he was not the most effective runner, certainly the Jaguars are willing to run the offense through him.

David Johnson (21 attempts, 98 yards and a score), Saquon Barkley (20 attempts for 67 yards), Nick Chubb (20 rushes for 176 yards and two scores) and Dion Lewis (20 rushes for 57 yards) were the other volume standouts as far as rushing is concerned.

Some other guys were volume-makers as usual: Ezekiel Elliott and Adrian Peterson (19 carries each), Melvin Gordon (18 rushes), Matt Breida (17 rushes), Todd Gurley and Kareem Hunt (16 attempts each), with Aaron Jones and Doug Martin (15 attempts each) stood out as well.

Fournette was the touch leader in Week 10, adding 5 catches to his 29 carries (while adding another score from the air). The runner-up was the always effective  (at least after Byron Leftwich took Offensive Coordinator duties) DJ – also adding a receiving TD to his total.

McCoy just added one catch to his 26 rushes, while Ezekiel Elliott added six receptions and a score to his rushing totals.

Some other standouts were also present in the Rushing Top ranks – Barkley (24), Chubb and Gordon (23 each), Lewis (22), AP (21) and Breida (20).

I think it would be very safe to say that Zach Ertz could be qualified to play as a wide receiver in Fantasy Football. In addition to being Carson Wentz’s prime target, the guy is a stat monster – on Week 10, he amassed 16 targets, which he took for 14 catches, 145 yards and two scores!

Kenny Golladay, AKA Babytron – broke through in Week 10, earning a massive amount of 13 targets in his first game without Golden Tate, adding 6 receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown.

Brandin Cooks, Julian Edelman and Josh Gordon (12 each), Austin Hooper, Julio Jones, Odell Beckham, Zay Jones and DeVante Parker (11 each) also stood out on Week 10.

Week 11

Teams that were on Bye: Buffalo BillsCleveland Browns, Miami DolphinsNew England PatriotsNew York Jets and San Francisco 49ers.

Again, Fournette will be heavily used by the struggling Jaguars’ offense in the last weeks of the Season. Last week, he carried the ball for 28 times, adding 94 yards and a TD.

Some other standouts were Barkley (27 and 2 rushing TDs), DJ (25), Zeke (23), Lamar Miller (20), Gordon, Jordan Howard and Peyton Barber (18 each) and Gus Edwards and Chris Carson (17) were some of last week’s top rushing performers.

You might have noticed that I left one of the leading rushers of the week out of it – and you are definitely right.  Lamar Jackson, a regular season debuting QB (or RB, we’re still not sure) who broke the NFL’s record for rushing attempts for a Quarterback in a single game. He took 27 carries for a whopping 117 yards, breaking the last record by a good marging and making the Fantasy Football World take notice of him!

Even though all of us know that Zeke is a rushing machine, the Dallas Cowboys are using him more and more in the passing game. He added 7 catches (on 8 targets) to his 23 rushes in order to be the touches leaders (alongside L-4) of Week 11.

Saquon added just two catches to his 27 rushes – and another score through the air – and David Johnson just got one catch to his rushing totals. Gordon had 6 catches (from 24 touches), while Miller had 3 (for 23 touches). Barber added two catches (for 20 touches), while CMC and JoHo (19 touches each) close out the top-ranked players.

Stefon Diggs was the clear example of the Garbage Time production last week! Even though he got a League Leading 18 targets, most of his Fantasy production came on the Vikings’ last drives – 13 receptions for 126 yards and 1 TD.

Two Kansas City Chiefs came second and third – Travis Kelce (15) and Tyreek Hill (14) – while taking part in one of the most exciting games of all time. Hill, particularly, had a monstrous week – 10 receptions for 215 yards and 2 TDs against the Los Angeles Rams.

Babytron (14 targets), Tre’Quan Smith and Antonio Brown (13 each), Keenan Allen, Cooks and Davante Adams (12 each), Robert Woods, Tyler Boyd and Jordan Reed (11 each) with JuJu Smith-Schuster and Doug Baldwin (10 each) were other standouts.

That’s it for Weeks 10 & 11 Volume Facts and Takeaways. Thank you very much and I hope to see you after Week 12!
