DFS: DraftKings/FanDuel plays for Week 9 – by Rob Grimwood

If you’re like me – you sit down at some point Sunday afternoon (morning for you American folk), with a cold, soft beverage, or whatever you’d rather – and you try to fathom out what will unfold in tonight’s games across the NFL that will affect your fantasy lineup decisions. Well, one aspect you shouldn’t have to worry about is your DraftKings or FanDuel lineups, why? Because I have you covered.

Take a look through my must-start players, why they will do well and I’ll also throw you some GPP One Percenter dart throw plays as well. So, sit back, feet up, open the app, and select these guys!

Big Plays

Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints vs Los Angeles Rams – Draftkings: $6,100

This game has got to be the game of the day, surely. Two extremely high powered, potent offenses trading blows series after series. If you own any of the skill position players in this game in your redraft leagues – start them up. There will likely be points scored all over the field, and no one does it better than Drew Brees. It goes without saying, the Brees/Michael Thomas stack is my favorite option this week, but I also don’t mind a Goff/Cooks or Goff/Kupp stack either.

Kareem Hunt, Kansas City Chiefs vs Cleveland Browns – DraftKings: $7,700

Hunt has only returned less than 19 PPR points once in the last 5 games. This week he faces a Browns team who have seemingly slumped into the Cleveland of old and have given up the joint most rushing touchdowns (10) alongside the Cardinals (who have a bye week). They also give up yardage through the air to backs (385 yards, 10th worst), so Hunt should be in his element and replicate his success over the last few weeks

Julian Edelman, New England Patriots vs Green Bay Packers – DraftKings: $6,600

The Packers have given up the second most touchdowns to wide receiver this year (12) and also leak 27.1 fantasy points per game to the position on average. There seems to be a bit of a carousel in New England with their receivers so far this year, but one thing is for sure – that doesn’t include Edelman. Since his 4 game suspension finished, Edelman has scored no less than 12.7 PPR points a week and is coming off a 104-yard game last week in Buffalo. The rookie DBs in Green Bay will likely struggle against a veteran in peak form.

Jimmy Graham, Green Bay Packers vs New England Patriots – DraftKings: $4,700

Same game, but flip it. How will Rodgers respond to a Brady/Edelman show? By exploiting the Patriots weak point, defending big, red zone tight ends. New England is currently giving up the fifth most fantasy points to tight ends within the teams that are playing this weekend. They’ve given up 5 touchdowns on the season and Graham has a 10.2 PPR point game average on the season. Expect this to be one of the weeks Jimmy Graham finds the pay dirt.

One Percenter Plays

Alex Smith, Washington Redskins vs Atlanta Falcons – DraftKings: $5,000

The Falcons defense has been less than inspiring this season thanks in part to a banged-up defense. This game could be a sneaky contender for a shoot-out game and I like Smith to finally have a fantasy productive day. The Smith/Peterson stack could be a great GPP play this week if you are looking for a cheap combo ($11,000).

Elijah McGuire, New York Jets vs Miami Dolphins – DraftKings: $3,000

The Dolphins give up the fourth most points to opposing running backs. With Isaiah Crowell blowing hot and cold each week and Bilal Powell out on IR – an opportunity might just arise for the fresh from injury McGuire to have a decent fantasy week.

Curtis Samuel, Carolina Panthers vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers – DraftKings: $3,500

Tampa Bay leak points left right and center to receivers, especially slot receivers. Curtis Samuel has had some nice weeks this year in fantasy whilst being used in the running game too. This could be a monster game if he continues playing the slot for the Panthers in this matchup.

*If you are only playing the main slate and Edelman isn’t available for selection, take the uprising star of D.J Moore in this matchup – DraftKings: $4,300

Laquon Treadwell, Minnesota Vikings vs Detroit Lions – DraftKings: $3,300

Stefon Diggs has been ruled out and Adam Thielen will likely get a large dose of Darius Slay. Treadwell is the next guy up for the Vikings and is a cheap dart throw this week with plenty of upside.

Chris Herndon, New York Jets vs Miami Dolphins – DraftKings: $3,000

Sometimes in DFS it’s worth playing the hot hand week to week. With a touchdown in each of the last 3 games, Herndon is certainly that. Oh, it’s also a plus matchup for him this week too…
